To celebrate the close of this June 2026 residency, the artists have hosted a reading event with Lockie Hunter, Liz Williams-Trader, NitaJade, Aliah Lavonne Jahan-Tigh, and Keagan Wheat. This community event featured the trailer debut of Whistle Down Wind by Andie Morgenlander and an immersive digital installation by Liz Williams-Trader.

As the Lockie, NitaJade, Keagan, Liz, and Aliah read, verdent hues from Liz Williams- Trader's digital art washed their faces. While at a REVOLVE show, Aliah and Keagan saw some of this work from Liz’s Asheville Arboretum Residency, and they immediately asked the multi-media artist if they could show the installation at the reading. Thankfully, Williams-Trader agreed, and the artists are so grateful.

During their Lamplight AVL residency, Jahan-Tigh and Wheat contacted Asheville filmmaker, Andie Morgenlander, and asked if they might screen the trailer for their new film, Whistle Down Wind. The artists were delighted when Morgenlander agreed.
The lovely and always supportive Emily McDanials, who co-runs the Lamplight AVL Residency, told Keagan and Aliah that they could select flowers from her own beautiful landscaping work to decorate the residency. Working in her garden and arranging flowers for their guests was a peaceful and love-filled way to prepare for their closing event. Felipe agrees.
The images from this event reflect the energy-giving nature of the evening and the joy and community the readers and friends found there.
